Vaisala Maritime Observation System MAWS410

To continue the successful marine adaptation of automatic data collection and processing systems, Vaisala has developed the new generation Vaisala Maritime Observation System MAWS410 covering the most demanding marine weather observation requirements of moving platforms and fixed offshore installations.

The Vaisala Maritime Observation System provides you with continuous 24-hour automatic shipboard weather observations. Direct satellite communication links can be used to send coded meteorological data sets to the global network in real-time.

Intended to be set up on Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS) the system measures, observes and calculates all the basic surface weather parameters including wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure, air temperature and humidity, and elements related to the position, course and speed of the ship. For the most accurate true wind calculation the vessel's own gyro compass and navigation system are used providing the required heading and ship's speed, direction and location information.

The MAWS410 system has passed a demanding environmental and EMC test program, which guarantees that the system exceeds the requirements of IEC-60945 and Lloyd's Register's type approval system, both internationally respected marine standards.
