Vaisala Rail
Specific Weather Forecasts
Significant operational benefits can be realised by using site,
and application, specific forecasts. These forecasts are more
relevant and accurate than freely available text and hazard
warning forecasts. Forecasters and forecast models use actual
and historic site data to deliver accurate forecasts along with
timing of potentially disruptive weather events.
3
- 24 hour site, and application, specific forecasts are delivered
in graphical form directly into the RailCast server. Information
on temperature and state (ice, frost, snow, precipitation) and
importantly, timings are delivered, and in some cases supported by
detailed and specifically prepared text forecasts. These
forecasts are a representation of a specific geographic regions (climatic
domains).
Rail NowCasting
NowCasting provides fully automated
short-term (3 hour) site forecasts of contact wire and state (ice,
frost, snow, precipitation). The Vaisala Rail NowCast model has
been specifically developed for rail applications and provides
operators with regular forecasts of potential problems. These
forecasts can also be used in conjunction with traditional, longer
range 24 hour site specific forecasts.
